So until today, I had never heard of updating the battery firmware version on my Air2S. I do regularly check the DJI Fly App version as well as the firmware for my drone. I read on another forum where someone was having an issue with one particular battery and someone said something about updating the battery firmware. So that got me thinking and I did some research. I have always used the Fly App to update but I read where some people have issues with that and use the DJI Assistant 2 App on their PC for their updates. I installed the Assistant 2 App and updated my drone and controller. I believe they already had the update but I did it anyway. I read that in the Fly App that you can check to see if you have the latest battery firmware version but I can't find that anywhere. I can only find the aircraft and controller version. I even looked in the Assistant 2 App when connected and there is nothing there either. I powered up the drone with all four batteries and everything looked the same. So is there an actual battery firmware update that needs to take place? If so how do I find the version number and update the batteries? Do they automatically update when updating the drone firmware without showing a battery firmware update? Is this necessary or am I wasting my time or possibly losing my mind? Any advice would be appreciated.

With drones using the (older) LiPol batteries, the drone (aircraft) firmware update will take place, then the drone will reboot. Directly afterwards, if there is a battery firmware flash for the battery, the on-screen firmware prompt will appear again and you will download a much shorter update specifically for the battery installed in the drone. You then shut off the drone, remove that battery, install another one and power the drone back up - the FLY app will then flag up the fact that there is an update waiting - this is for the second battery. Rinse & repeat for all flight batteries.

I've never seen any indication of a battery firmware version listed in the 'about' tab in the app menu.

I do recall when updating the firmware with the Assistant 2 App that the drone would download, reboot, then download again. I thought that was strange but also thought that was part of the process. I don't recall seeing anything show up on the download about the battery firmware so maybe that's what took place on the second download. I don't recall the drone acting the same way when updating the firmware through the DJI App. Maybe that's why some people do through the Assistant 2 App instead,
Do you know of any way to actually see the version number of the battery firmware? I have not been able to find that anywhere.
I appreciate the info and your reply.

Never seen battery firmware version listed anywhere. I've never noticed a detailed description in the 'download available' pop-up of what the smaller downloads contain.

You did get me curious though... Just been through the release notes for the air2s and the closest mention to anything concerning batteries was on this date.IMG_20250126_040100.jpg

Battery FW updates are completely optional updates, and unless you want the change in the auto-discharge option, should be avoided. That's about all they ever change.

Thanks guys and I appreciate your input. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something important.
A friend had his Air2S act strange the other day by flying sideways without any stick input. It was low and flew into some tree branches and got stuck. Luckily he was able to retrieve it with only prop damage. I was doing some research and came across a post where people were having battery issues and they were discussing updating batteries in order to get them to work properly so I got concerned that it was something I needed to look into. He had also just updated to the latest DJI Fly App version but had not updated the firmware in the app. for the aircraft so not sure where his issue came from. I have updated everything of mine and it seems to be working properly as I went for a short test flight yesterday and I will probably test it again today just to be safe. I have not spoken with my friend since the issue happened a couple of days ago but I will be calling him today.

In most cases, that may have been from launching the aircraft from an area where there was some sort of magnetic interference. Ask him where his takeoff point was.
He was at home where we both have flown before. He got about 5 inches of rare snow and wanted to go up and get a few pictures so I'm not sure why it acted that way this time.

Flight logs would answer that issue. May be worth doing to avoid a reoccurrence.
Yea I thought that. Honestly I'm not sure how to properly read those and I doubt he does either. I don't believe he is a member of a forum though I have told him he should be as there is a lot of good information and help available. Maybe I can convince him to join here and post the logs so others can help him determine the issue.
I have actually never looked at flight logs as I haven't had a need. Can you briefly explain where to look for those? Should they be retrieved from the memory card, aircraft or controller? I thought I saw them show up while connected to the Assistant 2 App but I'm not 100% sure.
