I can't understand why there isn't the feature to take a pic whilst recording! I'll prefer this than an auto record function...

Depending on your video editing software, you should be able to get a still from your video.

Single sensor can't do multiple things at once. Yes, many consumer cameras let you grab a still while videoing, but it's just saving a frame aside.

Been there, done that.
I tend to make a habit now of hitting record as soon as I take off and record everything until I land again.
Means a bit more editing work but it's better than having little or no footage at all !
