I am a little confused, but then at 83 it often happens 😟
I use the 16:9 aspect ratio on my Mini 2 for still photos which according to the specification = 4000 X 2250pixels.
When multiplied up the 4000 X 2250pixels = 9mp but when I check the actual size of my images they are only 4.1mp
Why?

And the attached picture is the original ... just moved from the SD card to your computer without going through any kind of editing or album program?

The exif info says 1280x720 ... & a program called "Photos 4.0" is mentioned, could the picture have been re-saved through Photos 4.0 in a smaller size?

Because they are saved as a jpg file.
Jpg is a compressed file format.
Open the file and the image is 9MP but the compressed file is something less than that.

Sure you don't mix up Mb ... & Mp?

Jpeg compression rarely change the pixel dimension.

I didn't suggest anything about changing pixel dimensions.
I'd say that never happens.

The OP mixed up Mb and Mp ... I thought the explaining the difference wasn't important enough and might only confuse him.
