Hi,

I bought the “DJI Mavic Air battery Power Mod Adaptor Ver2” from uavmods.co.uk for my MA.

I also bought two LiPo-batteries and I have been comparing flight times today. I was very surprised to learn that I didn’t get any extended flight times, or just marginal ones.

I had attached the LiPo battery under the belly of the MA with 3M Dual lock.

Here comes my comparison.
  • Weather was cloudy and around 17-20 degrees Celsius.
  • Wind was calm with “gusts” up to 3-5 m/s
  • All batteries were fully charged upon start.
  • Only hovering at 3.6 meters up and approx. 10 meters away from home point

Only the original battery from dji

Battery down to 50% after 09 min 38 sec

Battery down to 30% (and alarm) after 13 min 10 sec

Self landing at 10% after 16 min 46 sec

Original battery from dji together with LiPo, 11,1V, 1600mAh, 35C, 136 grams

Battery down to 50% after 09 min 46 sec

Battery down to 30% (and alarm) after 13 min 48sec

Self landing at 10% after 17 min 49 sec

Original battery from dji together with LiPo, 11,1V, 2200mAh, 25C, 175 grams

Battery down to 50% after 09 min 28 sec

Battery down to 30% (and alarm) after 13 min 46sec

Self landing at 10% after 18 min 00 sec

Both LiPo batteries were not empty but down to between 25-50% after the flight.

I would say that something is wrong – I would have guessed that I would get at least approx. 7-8 additional minutes, even considering the extra payload of the battery.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I would have guessed the same as you. I measured the DJI MA batt to have a real-live capacity of 2.5AH, so yes the additional capacity you added should have increased flight time. The additional weight of the lipos should subtract flight time but I wouldn't expec that much. Does the MA limit flight time? That would be weird. Obviously reach out to uavmods.co.uk.

The motors on the air runs hot under normal conditions. I can only image how hard the motors must be working after the battery mod.

Any updates on your findings? I recently picked up an air and there is velcro on two batteries so i could only imagine the previous owner tried to double up too.
