How long does it take to charge a plus battery from new?
What is the fastest way to charge mini 3 pro batteries?

Have a look at 30w or above GAN USB C fast charges, they work well. Can be purchased through Amazon or any reputable electronics store, including JB Hi-FI. Hope this helps. Charging time varies, I also have the + battery, but generally charges within the hour, from memory,if not completely discharged.

Hi AusTrekie, just got the plus today and it took 5hrs 10 mins to charge, via the c type and usb lead into the DJI 3 battery charger, it maybe because it was first charge

You could be correct, for first use, can’t remember now, had my + battery for a while, never seems to take very long to charge, but a bit longer than the standard battery. The type of charger used will also have an effect on the charging. Are you using the type of charger or similar as I previously mentioned, a minimum of 30w or above is recommended for the Mini 3 Pro.

Hi AusTrekie, no i am not using that type, I am using the 3 batt one that came with the combo set, will have a look at JB tomorrow. thanks for your tip.

@wombat ,what charger are you talking about ,if you mean the hub which holds 3 batteries ,that is not a charger, you need at least a 30w output charger that @AusTrekie mentioned in post#2

@wombat ,you need to get a mains charging brick that has at least a 30w GAN USB C output ,then use the lead with the USB C connector at either end to connect the charger to the hub ,it should then charge the standard battery in around an hour ,and the plus ones in 90 minutes
the hub is just a device to hold the batteries for sequential charging, or for powering another device ,

As a thumb rule a LiPo or LiIon battery should be charged at 1C for best balance between battery longevity & charge time/safety.

1C is the charge current divided by the batteries total capacity in Ah... so a 2000mAh battery (2Ah) charged with 2A gives 1C. Charging a battery with 1C from empty to full always takes very near 1 hour... can differ slightly depending on the time it takes in the end of the charge when the cell balancing finalizes.

So charging the same 2000mAh battery with instead 4A will give a 2C charging... and it will fill a empty battery twice as fast, ie. in 30 minutes. A charge at 2C will put greater wear on the battery & it will increase the internal temperature more. Wear & tear on the battery will decrease if charging... like with a 0,5C, but here the charge time will be twice as long.

A 1C full charge from nominal (storage) voltage (3,8V/cell or approx. 50%) will then take a tad more than 30 minutes (+balancing time in the end).

When it comes to generic battery packs you yourself steer all these parameters by setting all up in the charger... with DJI batteries it's a another story. A DJI battery have all these parameters coded into the BMS chip (Battery Management System)... meaning that if the BMS only draws amps to achieve a 1C... or a 0,5C charge, you can't do anything about it besides using a mains power adapter that can provide the amps the BMS require... if using a adapter not up to what's required... the charging times will be longer. Equal if using a very powerful adapter that easily can surpass what the BMS wants... the BMS will just go with the same #C charge that's coded, the charge will not be faster.

So if a DJI battery charge from empty to full takes substantially longer than an hour... the BMS is coded with a lower charge C-rating than 1... this most probably to generate less wear on the battery & make it keep up it's performance over a longer time. Or you use a mains power adapter that's not up to the task...
