Black Battery End

Can I stick a label on top of what looks like to me the black fabric on the battery on the opposite end to the connection ?terminals

Just guessing, but I bet that is breathable to let out heat and/or moisture.
I wouldn't put a very big sticker on it, if at all.

Mine is plastic. I put my battery number labels (1, 2, 3) on that end on a small sticker

Same here. Mine is plastic. Placed number stickers on it. So far so good.
