One of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen! The native Rocky Mountain Goats living in the mountains above were a special treat.
Yeah, awesome place to camp....and free! We hiked Quandry peak 10 years ago but never saw any goats. I hiked Sherman Peak this time, a bit lower than Quandry but the trail was rougher. Cool mines on the hike up though! The valley on the way up was full of beaver dams, kinda beaver heaven. ThanksDefinitely a magical place! I camped at the upper dam and climbed Quandry peak’s west ridge Recently. I think it is one of my best videos of all time. Great shots! The upper valley/basin is quite lush and supports a large goat population. The goats and I had a great climb together!
Yeah, the goats are funny. I had read years ago in Field and Stream that they were extremely rare and wary of people. That is probably true but this family of wild goats was very use to campers and came through our camp twice. I raised a couple goats many years ago and they are actually very social and got excited whenever I came home from work. I like em!Very nice! Quite a great place to fly! I chuckled when the goat looked up. I just imagined it thinking, "Whatta you looking at!" HAHAHA The water is smooth there, great looking place!
