Braking return sticks to midpoints

I was flying the other day and it was pretty windy. When I came in to land I kept getting the Braking return sticks to midpoints error. I thought at the time it may have been the wind, but on reflection I just realised I was taking off and landing only about a metre away from myself. Am I correct in thinking I was the probably the problem being too close.

Yes or stuff around you, I have to disable the forward and rear facing sensors if flying from my garden.
