Hello everyone! I hope you are ok, well I will be brief a few days ago I tried to make a flight, now comes the problem, when I turned on the drone I forgot to remove the gimbal protector and when I entered the app DJI Fly said gimball stuck, I immediately re scared a lot and remove the protector, hiso or the typical movements when you turn on the drone, then I made calibration of the gimbal but well the drone moved it to the sides and the camera also moved to try to stabilize, my question is normal that? Or was the gimbal slightly damaged? :/

I have already forgotten to remove the gimbal protector once. It was fine after I removed it. I've since added an 8 inch red ribbon to the protector so that I notice it is still on. I've done that to my Mavic Zoom. On the Zoom I forgot to remove the protector about 4 or 5 times. That's when I added the ribbon. Amazon actually sells "tags" to remind people to remove the protector.

But if it seems to be working it is probably okay. Try flying 5 or so feet off the ground and take videos and photos and move the gimbal up/down and left and right.

Good luck

I also have forgotten to remove the protector several times.
On one occassion I noticed the horizont was not perfectly anymore during the next flight. So I recalibrated the gimball and all seems ok now.
But I am thinking of doing something like you did to prevent it in the future. Do you have a picture of it to let us see how exactly you did this?

At the moment the drone is downstairs and I'm up. But the protector is here (g)

A quickie job attached with scotch tape

Great job!It is good you mentionned the scotch tape because at first glimpse it looks as if the ribbon goes into some sort of slit in the protector.
I am going to look here for a similiar ribbon and definitively do the same thing! Thanks for sharing your tip and picture :) Thumbswayup

I accidentally flew the Zoom too many times without removing the guard. I recall the last time - It was about 100 feet above my house and I was trying to angle the camera downward to the neighbor's new construction/addition. It would not move. I tried up/down and left and right - figured I must have bashed the gimbal since it would not respond. Oh, the Zoom's protector was clear (not even gray/smoke). I was pretty upset. Landed and noticed the protector was still on. That was the last time! I admit I did not originate the idea. Someone mentioned the ribbon idea. Again, there are some commercial products but frankly, I don't think those are long enough.

Safe flying.

I remember when I first purchased my zoom I forgot to takeoff the cover. I realized it was on as soon as I powered up the drone I took off the cover immediately. When I went outside to fly the drone I had a warning that said Gimball overload I knew then game over. Box it all up took it back for an even exchange. Needless to say I have never forgotten to take the cover off again.

Did your Mini did not warn you when you started it? Mine does give me a warning immediately.

I did that last week after performing the update. The controller kept warning me that the gimbal was stuck. I thought it was talking about the gimbal sticks, which were freely moving. I lifted the drone off the ground and it responded correctly. So I chalked it up to a glitch with the update.

I start flying forward and I'm watching the drone. I look down at the display, and I notice that although the drone is flying level to the ground, the display is showing about a 45-degree angle. That was when I realized it was the camera gimbal, not the gimbal sticks.

Some days I am smarter than others ;)

I'm also going to add the red tag to the protective cover.

I guess I was lucky.

Even luckier were the two crashes!! I pruned my apple tree and then it hit the ground up-side-down and mowed the grass - did not immediately stop! The second time I pruned a new bathroom window and fell into the shrub below. Lucky that the window did not break (there are two permanent mars on the glass) and the drone survived with broken propellers.

I was sure both of those times that the drone was finished. It survived.
