Can you charge the controller with the RC cable?

For some unknown reason, DJI is using USB micro A in their controller even though drone, charging station and charging cables are micro B. I've read about some people ruining their RC by jamming their micro B cables the wrong way because of this and I would prefer to have the same cable connected at all time.

So my idea is to get a USB C -> USB C extender or USB C -> USB A so I can connect them to the RC cable that I use to connect with my phone. Would this be possible or is there a better method to charge the RC?

That might work if the power polarity matches. But then because of switching port operating modes, maybe not.
When using the included short cables, you're operating in OTG mode where RC provides power. With a normal micro B cable which leaves the RC in non-OTG mode, RC receives power.
One member has been able to get the RC to receive power while operating in OTG mode, but he's probably providing a tidal wave against the river current. Not sure how well the electronics in the RC will deal with that long term.
