Can you get in trouble for using the FCC hack in Europe/Skandinavia?

Frankly, the Mavic Air's range is pathetic. I'm can barely get 350m out and if there is a tree or two in the way I can forget about a clear video feed.

I'm considering doing the FCC hack but I'm wondering, is there anyway you could get in trouble for this? I'll be doing it with my android mobile phone.

In almost any case I would think the hack is not something that could get you in trouble. The use of the app to accomplish what you are restricted from might get you in trouble. Just don’t do dumb things and I bet you will be fine.

I think, it's almost impossible for someone to find out.

Also, go4 app, asks if you want to change WiFi settings, and gives the option to answer "No". It is more, a specification obligation for the manufacturer, than a regulation for the end user.

If challenged, just tell them you're a refugee and they won't do a thing to you no matter how many laws you break. :rolleyes:

To be clear, you would be breaking the law by using the device in the EU with the FCC hack. The transmit power of the radio is limited to comply with the EU regulations to avoid disruption of other equipment using the same band.

However nobody would be able to tell without examining the device. The only way you would get into trouble would be if there was any sort of incident and the equipment was examined. So you decide...

It's like anything else, its illegal if you get caught.
The chances of getting caught are low but in theory you are committing an offence.

@Congoblue

Probably a dumb question from me, but is there any way my mobile phone service provider would know and inform the authorities?

Why would a mobile phone provider know about WiFi?

What usually happens with FCC mode is you wipe out wifi reception of routers and people nearby.

Ah, well. I can't fly near other people or properties anyway, so it won't really make a difference to anyways. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll try it out before I sell it. The range really is pitiful and I fly mostly in open fields. It won't change over to 2.4 either for some reason.

This is one huge advantage of Occusync on the Pro.
Its a simple test, doesn't permanently alter anything so nothing to lose by trying it. The chances of getting caught really are utterly remote.

I totally agree. I had the MP and the connection was flawless. I'm considering the MPP as the prices have already dropped because of the mp2 release. I just hated the gimbal on that thing. The gimbal on the air feels and looks more sturdy.

Agree with that. Im always amazed my gimbal actually works on the MP. Easily the worst designed part of the drone.
