Hmm,
I got a new phone, and need to install software for my Mavic Air.
I went to the site:
DJI Go 4 - Download Center - DJI
and downloaded it,
1725851456378-DJI-v4.3.62_240...
Version 4.3.62.
Opening it it offers to install, and I do, and no errors are shown,
but never see any app on the phone.
??I did a similar download for the DJI store, and it shows up and works fine.

When you open the app manager on your phone is it listed there?

PS: I have downloaded it a few times, and changed settings (security) to allow installation from (Chrome, MyFiles (app), and Firefox, ...).
Each time it opens up the "installing" screen "installing DJI-Go-4" and a progress bar, for about a half-second, then quits, and nothing installed.

I tried a new tack;
I downloaded the ogo-4 app on windows
(DJI GO 4--For drones since P4 4.3.54 (arm64-v8a + arm-v7a) (Android 5.0+) APK Download by DJI TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD - APKMirror)
and put it into Dropbox,
then on Android phone opened that, and it offered to install,
I set security permissions to allow installs from Dropbox and it did;
it installed, and gave an icon to run it.
But - it opens, and then just immediately closes.
It gave a warning that:
DJI Go 4 closed because it has a bug.
Try updating this app after the developer provides a fix.

Doesn't the Go app only work on 32 bit platforms?

Hmm, so I decided to for now revert to using my Android (Samsung) tablet, on which I already have GO-4 installed, and had used it before for flying the Mavic Air.
However, although the app was still installed there opening it gave the same problems as on the phone, it would open and after a few crashes (not fully opening) it would report that - the app has a bug and needs to be updated by the developers.
When I search on Play Store there are several other apps listed like "Fly Go - for DJI from other vendors. Are they reputable and useful replacements?
Litchi seems common, but $30 just to try it, and it seems more limited.
I see lots of others reporting problems with DJI Go.
If I upgraded to DJI-Fly, and a newer drone, would that be more reliable?
(I think Fly is only for newer models?)
It seems that DJI has abandoned it and does not update it for newer Android updates - can this be true?!

No .. Since DJi apps stopped being available in the Android store several fake apps have turned up there.

Litchi is good, but Go 4 is too and it should still work

There always have been but that's more a comment on them or the equipment they tried to use.

DJI Fly is only for those newer models designed for it.
Fly and Go 4 aren't interchangeable.
DJI Go 4 should still work perfectly when you get past the issue that's affecting your installation.

Thank you for the inputs.
Why it would not install, and then installs and crashes - is frustrating and odd.
And that it has the same behavior on an existing prior usage tablet is also pretty odd.
However, I found a second old Samsung tablet with Go-4 also on it that I had also used previously, and GO-4 does run on it - I'll see if it is actually really functional!
Not much I know to do for the crashing versions on my phone and other (main) tablet); Android just says "app has bug...".

It's a bit of a mystery.
Samsung have a tendency to push the Android envelope in their later models with some of the processors they use.

See the latest response on your other thread. Tried: tested and now a fully functional GO4 flight app on a Lenovo M10+ 3rd-gen.

Thanks - The "other thread" (dji-go-4.148746/#post-1697127) was just a comment on someone else's situation which was a bit different. His installed and ran but could not login, mine (two systems) won't run).
My comment there:
----------------------
I had turned on allow installation of 3rd party apps and then one older version (4.3.62) was installable, but won't run.
Turning off Play-protect did not have any effect on either tablet or phone.
The fact that the previously installed and working app on the current tablet now fails - certainly points to some change in Android treatment.
Yet, on a second (older) table, a similarly old and working version still works.
I'm thankful for that!.
Certainly my Android(s) don't like it - they report - "it has a bug... needs replacement."

What is your version of Android and Go-4?
Both of my newer (failing) systems are Android 14, and GO4 V4.3.54.
My working tablet is Android 7, and GO4 V4.3.46.

Interesting - Success.
I tried it one more time - but this time using the Google Files app instead of other fIle management apps.
* Turned on allow install of apps from Google files
* re-downloaded from DJI (DJI Go 4 - Download Center - DJI)
*in Google files, open the apk file, and it offers to install - yes.
* it says "update" (not install!)
* it does, and all seem to work (on phone).
Details of why are not clear, but glad to get it after so much wasted time!

What is your version of Android and Go-4?
As a reference...

Samsung Galaxy S8 with android 9
Samsung Galaxy S20+ with android 13
Samsung Galaxy S8 Tab with android 14

All runs latest (from 2024-08-21) 4.3.62 DJI GO4 without any problem.

Thanks.
My only guess is that the Google-Files does a better (=correct) job of installing from an apk, otherwise all other attempts which failed were the same.
