Hi. Recently wanted to buy a DJI AVATA 2 Fly More Combo on eBay, but only now noticed that it uses CE transmission instead of FCC. Did some research, and apparently it's illegal and stuff.

Is it illegal to fly as CE in the North America? And those who bought a drone off eBay before (that's not a US brand new), did you have any legal trouble with it?

CE and FCC are not transmission methods; they are the regulatory bodies that have certified that the drones meet radio emissions standards in their markets. The CE covers the European Economic Area, and the FCC covers the US.

They both do more things, but that's what is applicable for drones.

Generally speaking, a product that has CE certification but not FCC certification would not be allowed to be sold in the US.

AFAIK, it's the same hardware in the drone in both markets, and the biggest difference is that drones operating in CE markets have a lower transmission power. If you bought a DJI drone from a CE market and flew it in FCC space, I doubt that anyone would notice.

All DJI drones are the same (for the most part; technically speaking).

You can't use them for 107 (its an insurance thing) but as far as recreational go for it.
