Hi, do I have to put my cellphone into "Flight mode" when using it as "FLY DJI" tool? What will happen if not in "Flight mode" and a call or sms comes in?

No.

Your phone will ring or the message will appear (just like it normally does).

The drone is flown with the remote controller. So, whatever your phone is doing won't affect the flight.

I would venture that a call etc. could be distracting and, the way things work, that would, of course, be when things start to go wrong

While you can continue to fly as usual even with an incoming call or text; it's advisable to put your phone on airplane mode when flying - helps avoid distractions, and some believe reduces wifi interference.

I am using an iphone 11 pro. If a call comes in, the screen recording will stop
I have an iPhone 8...and that is not the case.
The recording is done by the drone, so if you don't answer the call, it shouldn't affect operation. Just sayin'

@boblui said his "Screen Recording" which is recording what's he's seeing (and possibly audio) on the iPhone stopped if a call came in, as you say the mini's camera operation will continue to record to the card.

unless its really imperative that you have your phone able to receive calls while flying ,then from a safety standpoint it is much better to prevent that from happening,or better still ,leave it in your vehicle if you have a dedicated device to fly your drone with, it is no different to the distraction that a phone causes when you are driving, you need to have your full concentration on the task in hand ,and yes i am pushing the safety message ,as i always have ,whether anyone takes notice of that message is up to them

I have more problems with pop ups and messages. I generally use airplane mode ( sometimes I forget)?
How often have you forgotten to screen record, can't see your display... With my iPhone I have set up a built-in app called "Shortcuts". It can easily be customized to do a bunch of steps automatically. To fly my mini with a one button macro, I have it turn - Brightness to 100%, Audio 90%, wifi on, airplane mode, FLY (or Litchi) app on, start screen recording with audio. After flying, another macro resets everything. Similar 3rd party macro apps are available on Google Play for Android but it is built into iOS. Many YouTube videos show how to set it up.
