Found this Husky brand locking / waterproof case (up to 10 feet deep) on clearance at Home Depot for $9.88. The store I went to had a lot of them in stock. I used the cardboard mold from the original box just to keep it from touching the controller while in transport but this isn't really needed; if you had the new Mavic sleeve it would be even better.

Pictured are 4 batteries total (1 on the aircraft) and the controller. Don't have room for the charger but that's not a big deal to me. I see this more as a case to take backpacking or on a canoe where I don't have to worry about a quick rain storm or rapids.

The Husky case is a great idea! I need something crush resistant. I can carry my soft case when I'm at my destination.

What size is the Husky case. I went to Home Depot but the case I saw looked too small.

Don't buy a case for the Mavic. Make one out of the Box, then throw it into your backpack or camera bag. If it was good enough to ship it in, it's good enough to store it in. It's an ecofriendly solution. It is convenient durable and if you want to beef it up, spray it with bedliner or plastidip!
