I love my Mavic AIr and after some time becoming more adept with the different camera shooting modes, I am concentrating now on camera settings. I have 3 ND Polar Pro filters which I use. (4, 8 , 16) Initially I was using D Cinelike and found I was often boosting the colour saturation after the fact. Although I consider myself to be a bit of a camera buff, I have no interest in becoming a full fledged videographer. WOW...there are some great ones out there and admire the footage that has been shared. My main interests are the ability to take the MA along on world travels (knowing there are restrictions governing useage in different countries) and to share quite quickly with friends and family......no time for hours of post editing / enhancements afterwards. After using for about 3 months, I am more pleased with my results both in video and still by turning off d-Cinelike and slightly boosting the saturation (+1) in the custom presets. I look forward to some feedback.DJI_0089.jpeg

Looks good to me! Yea the point of D-cinelike is that you’ll be doing some adjusting in post and most editors would rather have that control over HSL(hue, saturation, luminance) in post.

Same is true for exposure. I’d rather have a flat image to work with so I can pull the highlights and shadows out under my control in the grading room. I find the “normal” or “none” profile to be way too contrasty for the way I like to operate but if you are getting the results you want then there’s no right or wrong way to do it.

ND filters are primarily for video. Shutter speed with video is extremely important and there’s always a “correct” shutter speed where as with photos the only reason you would need to use ND filters would be if you had a moving subject you wanted to blur.

So you can see with this photo the photographer wanted the effect of the moving water so he used an ND filter to slow down the shutter to get the water to blur. Something like this is the reason to use ND filters in photography.
