Circle Hyperlapse radius?

What determines circle hyperlapse radius!? Did my first one today and the app calculated that it was going to take 300 photos for a 12 sec hyperlapse to complete. I was only quarter of the way into the hyperlapse and already taken 200+ photos. At that rate seems like it would have taken 800+ photos to complete, and certainly more juice than one battery. I aborted and returned home. Seems like the radius got miscalculated....Any ideas/thoughts?

Trying to remember if the speed is adjustable. Don’t have mine with me at the moment.
