I work for a news organization and just took the 107 test (now awaiting the cert). I expect at some point to apply for a 107.29 waiver (daylight), so I've started doing my homework on that. In the process, I stumbled on this interesting waiver granted to CNN for 107.39 (no flight over people) using, exclusively, a drone I was unaware of, the Snap by Vantage Robotics. As you can see, they advertise it for "safe and legal flight over people." ("Let us help you get a 107.39 waiver in as little as 30 days.")
The key seems to be a fairly light (1.37 pounds) airframe and propeller guards. They advertise a 20-minute flight time and capability in 25 mph wind.
Anyone seen one of these? It appears to be a potentially worthy Mavic 2 competitor.
