My understanding was only when prompted but here says every new location?

That's just one of the commonly repeated myths around drones.
The people who suggest it don't understand what compass calibration does.

I have yet to do one since the first time I got up and running. In fact I have tried multiple times. By clicking on the compass calibration with no luck getting into that screen. Most likely user error being new to
Drones and the mavic mini
