Hi there.
This is my first post on this Forum, so I hope I am doing it correctly and asking in the correct Forum.

To my question:

On the 3rd or 4th take off in my backyard, while still working my way around each button and link as a try-out I did something which I can not find an answer to in the official manual, or for that matter anywhere else on the net.

The Mini 2 was sitting on the ground ready for take off, but when I pressed the fly button (I did it on the Controller I think) the Mini did not take off but instead started to beep in a very loud steady and ongoing manner and did not take off. I think the rear information light was blinking a fast and steady green colour also.

I could not overcome this problem by any button pushes. I finally resorted to turning every thing off on all 3 devices - The hand controller, the Drone and my attached iPhone and then back on again. The problem still persisted. The iPhone was only to exit the DJI App then reacquire it.

It was not until a few more restarts of all 3 devices that the beeping stopped and the problem resolve its self. I and I do not have a clue as to why.

I have now had 3 more short flights in the backyard with no problem, but I would very much like to know why this happened so that I may get on top of it should it happen again

Well fellow aviators I await your advice

Cheers
Janset.

I looked through the full online only 60 page DJI manual for your drone.... if your sure about the rear lights, which are the informational lights, I can’t explain it other than just a one time faulty initialization of the software.

I’d just be cautious the next few flights and be ready to note the color and pattern of the rear LEDs in the event it happens again. That way if it’s not in the manual you can contact DJI.

Here’s a link to the full manual referenced above:

Hi Thomas B.

That was a very quick response. :)

Yes I am also inclined at this point to think that also/hopeso.

What I also noticed was that from the time I pushed a button to open something, there was a delay, not a big one but a delay nonetheless. I will have to keep that in mind. I may have overloaded the commands I put in.

Cheers Janset

I’m sorry... but pushed a button on what device exactly?

I will see how it goes before I try that as I am flying in the backyard there are a few things to collide with, I do not know but very low level flying may need the phone App to measure height.
Cheers

The phone app only reports the values sensed by the systems on the aircraft that feed information to the Flight Controller to maintain stability. All the telemetry data you see in the app is generated at the aircraft not the other way around.

That makes a lot more sense now.

One thing I can say that this exercise has taught me, and that is not rush for a response from Forum members. The second lesson is to take note of what actions I undertake instead of simple asking for a piece of string and expecting a definite answer.
Cheers guys

The forum is comprised of users just like yourself. We are not DJI tech support and are not affiliated with DJI the company at all. We are a community and do our best to help each other.

When describing a problem you need to provide as much information as possible. Saying “I pressed a button , but don’t know which one” leaves everyone in the dark about what you did do. The forum is much like a computer…good data in - good results out…bad data in - useless information out.

I am not trying to belittle you at all. Years ago I thought forums were always manned by company personnel 24/7. Then I started moderating and found out differently.

Many drones seem like toys, but these are far from it. They are sophisticated machines that require some prep time from the one that will be operating them.

Hope you enjoy growing in the hobby. Stay safe, fly smart, and enjoy.

Hi there.

No offence taken. I was the one who went off half cocked in a panic fit.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers until the next time.
