HI All,

I live in india and recently purchased a 2nd hand Mavic Air 1.

My drone gets main controller data error under many conditions
1. if i leave drone on ground for about 10 minutes it overheats
2. if i fly drone for 5-7 min and then take a break it gets error
3. First booting i did not fly just doing setup, i got the same error, even the CPU shut down due to overheating

Additional Testing done
removed the top cover and kept on ground, it did not overheat
Cleaned the air intake filter, not much change.

Ambient temperature is about 38-40 C, slightly cooler than 45C a month ago.

Suggest
1. Should i fly without Top cover since it does not over heat
2. Make holes in cover to let heat escape
3. What ?

Check whether the fan is working and replace if faulty, it just may need a clean or blow out with compressed air

Apparently the fan activates at 38c and according to the specs your at the limit of it's operating temperature which is 40c

I would be flying in the early morning or at dusk, otherwise you risk a malfunction and the loss of your drone

Anyone care to share their log file. My temperature has been hitting the roof. So I flew my drone with top cover removed. Android app has no temperature log, so Uploading a video of hover on YouTube.

I want a log file from fellow pilots

Why do you need a log file, how will it help you ?

Hi, comparing the temperature of battery to mine. Want to see the benchmark

Here you go, one from Asia, if you look at the battery info graph in 6 minutes the battery reached 43c from 26c
so if you start at 37c your going to be massively exceeding the battery temp limits very quickly

Please see the video...I am at 49 degree at end of 5 min

Tried battery no 2.... Ambient temperature is 35c. Still the battery goes to 50C. Please do share what's going wrong. I removed top cover to take the guessing out.

Yes . Since I get this error only when drone is on and Idle on ground. While flying the controller error never happened. During main controller error, another line appearing is barometer error. Switch off and cooling will get drone flying again

If they drone is on the ground then it is not a problem, almost all drones overheat when they are not flying and sitting on the ground for a long time.
This is normal and your drone heats up faster because it's hotter in India.

For me it's only one minute after start up and then the drone is up and flying
Sitting on the ground while powered up is also wasting precious battery power.

Thanks for reply but what's your battery temperature range when flying. Does it hit 50C

It will depend on the ambient temperature and what sort of flying am I doing.
Blasting around in sport will obviously max out the battery temp, while flying slowly in tripod mode will not.

I'd be only worried if your getting overheating errors while flying and yours is not doing that
