Controlling a 3 Pro with RC-N1?

When the first Mavic 3 was released, it came with the RC-N1.
That suited me fine as it allowed me to keep using my favourite 8 inch tablet as a flying screen.
When the Mavic 3 pro was released, it came with an integrated screen controller.
I sold that without even trying it because its phone-sized screen was too small.
I do a lot of serious photography and rely on having a screen large enough to see what's going on.

What's that thing sticking from behind the tablet?

Saying the 4G dongle gives you "unlimited range" is a bit optimistic. I use my drone almost exclusively in the back country, without cell signal. And yes, I agree that if you have to carry additional contraptions you might was well carry the RC pro.

In my case I will carry the S25U with me anyway, because I use it for my photography. The cell phone makes it much easier than a camera to see how a composition under weird angles works. I also find that I can see alternative compositions easier on a cell screen than looking though a viewfinder. Bottom line is the cell phone is with me at all times anyway. Under those conditions an RC N1 still seems like a good compromise.

In any case my new (to me) M3P will be here Tuesday, I guess I will see how the RC Pro feels before making a decision. The RCN1 can now be had under $50 used so I will probably pick one up anyway.
Have you had a chance to pick up an RC-N1 and and fly your Mavic 3 Pro with the RC-N1 to compare with the RC Pro yet. If so, what are your thoughts on it as I am in the same situation. Photos (almost) exclusively over video and enjoy the large screen of a 10" ipad to the smaller screens for composition. Thanks!

A quick update - the Magic 3P with the RC Pro controller turned out to be scam - I posted about it in the General thread. I got my money back from PayPal, and then purchased a Magic 3P with the RC controller. The brightness of the screen mid day in the CA desert (on an overcast day) is disappointing. I have been forcing myself to use it for the past few weeks so I can better judge whether the RC-N1 with the S25U is going to be meaningfullly better.

I picked up a RC-N1 used for $40 and it is sitting at home waiting for me to get around to testing it under actual flight conditions.

My priority right now is deciding whether I want to add external dual band antennas to the RC. Opinions seem to be split on their effectiveness. If anyone has first hand observations please don't be shy - do tell.

No need for any additional antennas.
The RC-N1 easily controls a Mavic 3 pro far in excess of the distances most flyers would ever want or need.

I was referring to the RC. Was flying the Mavic 3P over badlands over the weekend and was loosing signal unexpectedly soon relative to my experience with the RC-N1 on an Air 2S. I actually had to fly higher and use the 3x tele lens to get the image I was after because I needed to descend too low to work with the 1x lens. Have not done a rigorous test against the RC-N1 to ensure that I am not imagining things. Maybe in a few weeks I get around to that.
