I have heard this too ...per a DJI rep's comment on the DJI Forum.
Nah not copping that, the SDK is released by DJI, and other developers can make use of it. I would expect full warranty should something occur (firmware or manufacturing wise)
If the damage to the craft is due to faulty 3rd party software then no it is not covered. If the craft is damaged because of a faulty part then it is covered under warranty even if you are using 3rd party software. Dumb thumb it into a tree, building, lake, etc then you will not get warranty coverage no matter what software you are using. You most likely will be able to get coverage under Care Refresh as long as you have the craft to send in no matter the software.
I have also received similar information from email DJI Support when I asked about using Litche. From DJI: "With your concern, if in your last flight you are using a third party app and your unit crashed, you will need to send the unit to our facility for repair. But once the unit has been evaluated and there is no way to retrieve your flight record since you are using a third party app you will be charge for the repair for the unit since there are no basis to check your flight record to see if this is a pilot error or unit malfunction." People can rant about the SDK, but DJI does not do software code reviews of 3rd party apps to know they are using the SDK correctly. Perhaps Litche writes the same log details as GO4, but you are relying on DJI to make that determination once they have your bird.per a DJI rep's comment on the DJI Forum.
