Crash proof quad

This is not new. For example this video from 2013 shows the same.

Can this manoeuvre be accomplished with stick input? No.

DJI could however implement a limp mode where the drone remains in control after losing a prop (like in the videos).
However, while this is just software, it might cause issues with the esc's , and gimbal. It is not worth it for the few non-pilot-error prop losses.

Must have whilst flying over crowds legally ;)

Soon come:cool:

There is a lot of video about crash proof drones but still, companies selling camera drones are not using this type of technology. I wonder if the cost to acquire or use this technology is way high.

It's not crash proof. It's trying to stay aloft with a failed rotor. You can still crash the drone if you fly it to a tree.
I am sure if it works, it'll be patented. DJI would have to pay someone to implement it in their drones. An amount for every drone they sell. That means it'll cost DJI money. How many drones have crash due to a failed rotor? Cheaper for DJI to repair, under Care Refresh, cos they still make money from it.

Hexa copters can easily fly with one motor out, and octo copters can even manage it with 2 motors out.
Us quad fliers are basically screwed if we loose a prop or motor.
