There used to be a big Gold Mine a bit further up.

The GOLD MUSEUM in Jinguashi - Taiwan Everything

Jinguashi is a lovely town in the shadow of touristy Jiufen on Taiwan's Northeast Coast. The biggest attraction here is the Gold Museum.
