I’ve been watching loads of YouTube footage on the distance the dji mini can fly. 2 1/2 to 3 mile. I’ve flown my mini in manual and auto in both cases I couldn’t get any more than 500 feet. So is this a lye or am I missing something?
Anyone know?

Do you have buildings, homes, trees, power lines, communication towers, hills, etc that can interfere with the signal?

Also check your antenna orientation, make sure that you face your drone, the backside of the antennas facing it, and a little extra altitude can help as well, just be sure to stay under legal height limit.

No. I’ve put it to max distance. Thing is I’ve flown the mini in open fields on high ground still only got 500 feet before losing signal

Something is definitely wrong then. Even around trees etc i get three times that range with no problem.

The FCC model flies further but you should get about 800 meters with the Europe model before the video starts breaking up. I'm guessing you are in the UK?

Check calibrations and IMU? I can’t see that ever going 3 miles, but I haven’t tested one.

I’d drive to a wide open area with no lines around, reset and re calibrate, take it out small distances at a time to make sure it’s comfortable with the new calibration, and see what happens then.

3 miles is pretty wild I would think on a mini. Most I have ever gotten out of my Mavic air is almost two miles flying down a river bottom pretty decent straight shot. However, in my front yard I can only 1500 to 2200 feet ish in the middle of the city depending on the day.

Sounds like something wrong then... how far up are you flying? Try to go up 200-350 feet and see how far you can get it in a empty area too just to check...

I only have issues if I am around lots of trees, or homes with lots of wifi... I have flown mine for about 1.5 miles on a green easement around power lines with no issues just to check distance on mine.

In this video i took it out around 3000 feet around a gold course.

I was around 200 feet. I’m only trying it because if you can get the distance the say it can do it gives you peace of mind.
Is it a good idea to re calibrate every time you fly?
