Distance flying in the city

I only get 3/4 miles in Los Angeles before losing RC connection and RTH kicks in. Uploaded flight log to healthy drones and it confirms the signal loss, is this generally expected when flying in a congested city?

I did this in a rural area today and lost signal at just over 2k feet of distance because of the trees and changes in land elevation (I was in a bit of a valley where I started flying). So I can only imagine a city would be massively worse.

Thanks, I need to find an open area like a beach, but it's really hard to find open areas that don't have high tension power lines or other forms of interference near Los Angeles

There are islands of flyable locations, just lots of houses, apartments & people

Plenty of cell towers to jam your signal as well.
