DJI 4.14 SDK - Mavic Air 2 Support is here !!!

I do not believe the Mavic 2 Pro will give you any better coverage. However...With your MA2, if the area is not two large, plot one hour's worth of mapping. As you bring the drone back after 20 minutes of flying, put in a new battery, restart the drone and it will pick up where it left off with the original battery. That will not do acreage, but it might help. I know that works with DroneDeploy.
...Of course, if large mapping is important to you, and you are making money doing it, just buy and keep charged as many batteries as you need...
Well the point is that the Mavic 2 pro WILL actually allow me to map large properties (~160Ha) - due to that waypoint based capability - (as I understand it) whereas the Mavic Air 2 cannot. The requirement to maintain constant controller connection (via “virtual sticks”) in relatively steep country is just a dealbreaker. Hence why I have to (unfortunately) sell my MA2 for a M2P. I wish I didn’t but the MA2 simply won’t do what I need it to whereas the M2P apparently can.
I don’t anticipate doing enough of this sort of thing to justify spending bigger money on more specialised drones, but I still have a requirement to map these kinds of properties 3-4 times a year. I had hoped the MA2 would suffice but it appears DJI want to preserve their pricing structure and therefore won’t enable such a thing.
if it was only mapping small areas youre right, I could work around But it’s just not practical on the larger ones.
now my challenge is getting access to a M2P without spending top dollar only months before they release the Mavic 3.

Please tell me what you know that I don't. By what means, can the M2P map LARGE area that the MA2 cannot? Do you know of batteries for the M2P that can fly the bird for several hours? If such batteries are available for the M2EA, or will be available for the M3, I would really like to know about them and where to get them.
Please tell me.

Apologies if this is unclear, but (as I understand it) without autonomous waypoints you must maintain connection with the controller. That is easy with small areas but if you want to do bigger areas then that becomes either impossible or at the very least highly impractical.
Otherwise my understanding is that’s it would be largely the same - plan a grid, send the drone, have it return for battery changes and send it back etc..
is there something I’m missing in your point? Have you successfully mapped over 100 hectares with the Magic Air 2? If so, how did you do it?

mapped over 100 hectares
I cannot imagine where that came from. I certainly have NOT mapped an area anywhere near that large.
You wrote, "my understanding is that’s it would be largely the same - plan a grid, send the drone, have it return for battery changes and send it back etc.." That is exactly the process I mentioned above. It can be doe with the MA2. The problem is battery life...and the number of fully charged batteries you have on hand to get the job done.
Another issue is are you getting photos for a 2D or 3D map? The criss-cross pattern required for 3D maps requires twice as many photos for 3D...therefore, more batteries.
Either way, you can get over 22 minutes safely for the MA2. If the M2P batteries can last longer, you will need fewer of then. Back to "either way," you will need a hurge number of fully charged batteries to map a very large area.

Hi guys,
Where shall I download the air 2 SDK, in order to connect it to the Android Studio. I have done the SDK demo integration, now I want to integrate the SDK in order to work with App / change, build, etc.
So I need to open probably a new project and integrate the Air 2 SDK?
any help?
Thanks
BR

Well, I did the follow:
  • Installed the SDK and build and run demo. Got the screen with “Hello World”
  • Opened the Sample project, compiled and run. Got the screen as shown below.
  • Now I want to go further, to build a simple app for my Air-2, that does:
  • Start engines
  • Take off few meters
  • Start camera
  • Turns 360
  • Stop camera
  • Land down
  • Stop engines
  • So, hw shall I proceed from here? Any recommendations? Tips? Directions?

Any help is welcome guys.

Thanks in advance
