Hi all,

I’m having a strange issue with my DJI Air 2S after updating to firmware v02.04.2700.
Before the update, my drone could easily reach higher altitudes and distances without losing connection. But now, the remote controller disconnects when the drone is still below 100 meters altitude.

Here are the details:

  • Drone: DJI Air 2S
  • Firmware: v02.04.2700
  • Issue: RC loses signal before drone reaches 100 m altitude
  • Environment: Open area, no major obstacles
  • Tried: Restarting DJI Fly app, calibrating compass/IMU, checking antenna position — still the same issue
  • Suspected Cause: Might be related to the latest firmware update

Questions:

  1. Is anyone else experiencing similar disconnection issues after this firmware update?
  2. Is there a way to roll back to a previous firmware version without buying a downgrade license?
  3. Could this be fixed via settings or is it likely a firmware bug?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

What you describe is a problem well documented in both this forum and the official DJI forum, but with different older drones.

Is the signal disconnect occurring on one, or both control frequencies?

Boot the drone and take a look at the transmission tab in the main menu. What frequency band is marked on the bottom of the graph: probably 2.4gHz (the boot-up default).

Top right corner should show the word 'dual'. Tap the word and manually select 5.8gHz. now take the drone for a test flight. Do you get a stable control signal compared to the problems you have experienced (can you fly a greater distance than 100m?)

Your compass and IMU are never going to have any effect on your control signal.
Leave them alone.

Maybe ... but probably not
People like to blame firmware updates for all kinds of things, which usually have nothing to do with firmware updates.

You only talk about the drone's height.
Are you only flying vertically, straight up ?
Have you tried flying out rather than up?
How far out does the drone still have signal?
If you fly out a couple of hundred metres and then go up, do you still lose signal below 100 metres?
