I would like to purchase an DJI FPV or Avata but I know it would need a phone hooked up for RID. Does anyone know of a way to either downgrade the firmware or hack the drone so it would not need a phone to be hooked up? I'm not looking to fly without RID as I would attach a module on the drone, I just can't have a phone on me sometimes and I'm looking for a solution.

For the Avata 1, you don't need a phone for RID if you fly with the Goggles Integra.

I thought of putting a module on my DJI FPV But there are a few problems with doing that. One of the biggest is that the Drone will not take off unless it sees the RID from the Fly app, So you would still have to plug the phone in to the goggles V2 to takeoff. I think your best solution is to get the Avata 1 with the integra goggles as mavic3usa stated above. Those goggles have RID built into them.

If you can afford it, the Goggles Integra is supported on both the Avata and FPV, has GPS and battery built in, eliminating any tethering cable and the need to connect the phone.

That's Spain.

RID requirements in the US require a phone be connected to Goggles V2 to acquire and transmit the Control Station location in the RID message.

Thanks for the info. So either I get the integra or I move to Spain.......
Spain is wonderful that may be a hard decision. What will you be doing mostly with your Drone?

And only one tiny ½ acre hilltop.

The rules have really tightened up in Spain. Even worse in the UK... Auditors have so pissed off the public all drone flying has been restricted to a ¼ hectare square in Wales called The Drone Zone. Deconfliction has become a big problem.

😅😅😅

For the humor challenged, none of the above is true 😉

Sorry those goggles have no working input the Other DJI goggles do IF you purchase separate hardware to plug them into. Goggles and sims are just kinda OK, it seems to strain my eyes more .. I sim on the monitor Sims are really for learning and keeping your Stick reflexes polished. The more you Fly on a sim or for real the better you will get. IF you take a few weeks off it will show! Sims are great for solving that problem. I use my sim at least every couple of days if I can't Fly. It makes all the difference Get the Sim and use a monitor. If you wanna try goggles the V2's are getting pretty cheap now and with an adapter those will Sim.
I should note that my above DJI FPV statement is misleading The DJI FPV will fly without a phone BUT it won't have RID so beware. unless you have the integras.

For third-party Sims true.

However, you can plug any of the goggles into an android smartphone, and run the DJI sim on the phone and it displays in the goggles, IIRC.

I believe it still transmits RID just without a live control station location. However the takeoff location is part of the packet, so unless you move, the RID information is in practice "complete".

Also, it won't let you start the motors without a phone attached running Fly. You have to pull the cable after taking off.

My FPV will start and fly without the app...I have also noticed that I do not recieve the RID warning without the phone so should it be able to do that?? honestly would like to know. The other morning I took off and flew around before I remembered that the music I was listening too was playing from youtube on my phone. I landed opened the app and plugged in BUT noticed no RID notice while I did not have the phone attached.!!

Are you on the latest firmware? Earlier firmware did not have RID functionality.

It was bliss.

I'll fully admit my memory could be faulty as I havent flown my FPV in well over a year. Pretty much since the Avata hit the streets.

I was wondering why I was not getting the error everyone told me to expect unplugging the phone.

I didn't think that using a monitor would train me as well as goggles. I never read that anywhere, just a gut feeling. how do i connect the controller to the sim.?

You just need to plug the controller to the computer then in liftoff choose controller and follow the prompts.
