question:

if i output to macbook to record, can i remove the contorller display

or i need to to use pro controller

The RC Pro mini HDMI output is the only one that I am aware of that has the option to select a telemetry free, clean screen view for its output.

If you're outputting to a MacBook to record (like via capture card or using screen mirroring for Switch/console), the display on the controller itself (like the Joy-Con or Pro Controller) doesn’t show video anyway — it's just an input device. So no, you don't need a Pro Controller unless you prefer it for comfort. The recording will be of the console’s video output, not the controller. Just make sure your capture setup is solid and you're good to go.

By "pro controller" he meant RC Pro, rather than DJI RC or DJI RC2. The controller he is referring to is his RC controller of the drone that he is using as his input device, not a different capture device. However, his drone appears to be an Air 3 or Air 3S, that the OS3+ RC Pro with mini HDMI output is not compatible with, because both drones are OS4.

So even the RC Pro controller won't help.
