Hi everyone! Does anyone out there happen to have a DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine that they'd be willing to rent to me for a day (or even just a few hours) for a very quick shoot? (I'm in the Philly suburbs). I have experience in flying DJI Mini 2s, i.e. taking off, landing, maneuvering, obstacle avoiding, etc. I'd be more than willing to drive to you to pick up the drone, and then drive it back to you the next day (or even the same day depending on time of pickup!).

A little more info about what I'd like to shoot - my kids are obsessed with the Philly skyline! Haha. We recently discovered we could see the tip of the Philly skyline from our hometown at a spot that's 380ft above sea level! This led to a discussion of what the Philly skyline would look like from above our home! Our home is a little over 300ft above sea level - so I think if a drone were to fly about 200 to 300 ft above our house, we'd be able to see nearly all of the skyline! I thought the kids would be amazed if they could see a Hollywood-style shot of the skyline from above our home.

In researching it, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine has the best "zoom" features on a drone and has that "Hollywood" look to it - I'd love to get a shot of the skyline from above our house (i.e. one single cinematic shot starting with our home, then panning out to the skyline, zooming into the skyline, zooming back out, and panning back out to our house).

Should be a very quick and easy shot to get, very low risk too - so badly wish I could afford to buy a DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine, but unfortunately it's way out of my budget - so I thought if I could rent one for even like an hour or too, that'd be perfect!

Feel free to reply to this thread or send me a DM if interested! Thanks so much!

NICE TRY MIKEY!!!!
Sorry bout that..........just kidding.
I will just guess that you will not find someone that will rent you their Mavic 3. worth a try tho.
You may be able to find a person or business to help you with this for free tho.......How much beer do you have in the fridge.

Hahaha well I have plenty of beer in my fridge! I was planning to buy in dollars, but if someone would prefer beer, even better!! Haha.

Thank you for the reply! I'd be more than willing to pay someone to use their own drone to drive here and get the shot for me too though (if that's what you mean by the last part of your comment).

I was looking at rental sites, and the best I could find was $500 for a 2-day rental - but yeah, that seems like a lot of money to pay for a shot that would take about 10 minutes to get haha - so I figured if I could consult with someone very local for cheaper, that would be awesome!

Thanks again for the reply!

You don't need the Mavic 3 pro cine.
The Mavic 3 pro (non cine) is exactly the same drone, with exactly the same features and is significantly much cheaper and more commonly available.
The only extra feature that the cine model has is that it can shoot in Prores, which you definitely don't need.
Because Prores files are so huge, it has a built-in SSD hard drive to record the files.

Thank you so much for the response and advice, I sincerely appreciate it! The main reason I was choosing the Mavic 3 Pro Cine over the non-cine version was because I was told the zoom is smoother in the cine version (i.e. it can zoom smoothly and continuously into long-distances, whereas the non-cine version tends to "jump" when switching between lenses while zooming).

However, I didn't realize there was that much of a price difference between the two - I will definitely look more into that then! Thanks again for the advice!

You were giving misinformation.
The cameras on both are identical.
And the only zoom is digital zoom.
Neither drone has any optical zoom.

Oh no kidding! I was told they both had 7x optical zoom and 28x hybrid zoom, but the Cine zoomed seamlessly (but the non-Cine digitally zooms until 4x, then suddenly jumps to the telephoto at 7x zoom, creating a cut in video).

If that's not the case though, and they're both the same, then I'll definitely look into the non-Cine! Thanks again!

No current DJI consumer drone camera has optical (real) zoom.
They only have digital zoom.
DJI confused people by wrongly using using the term optical zoom in their marketing.

Oh no kidding! So they say it has 7x optical zoom combined with 28x hybrid zoom... but it sounds like it's not actually optical zoom at all, it's 100% digital? Why on earth would they advertise it like that? (Totally false then).

Thanks again for your help!

Perhaps sloppy translation or an over-enthusiastic advertising copy writer with limited knowledge of photography and no-one checking before publication?

They spread the zoom myth here:
Go down to the page where they show the cameras to see it

The specs make it clear that there are three fixed focal length lenses and no real zoom.

Ah, ok - so with the 3 lenses, they are at fixed points? (i.e. one lens is normal, one is 3x, and one is 7x? But you can't zoom in between them, you can only switch back and forth?)

Do you happen to know if you can at least zoom in gradually digitally?

Eye-opening, thank you again for pointing this out!

Ok, now it's making sense! So there are no DJI drones that have a genuine "optical zoom," meaning there's no "smooth zoom" using optical lenses... instead, there are just optical lenses that stay at fixed points... the only "smooth" zoom is a 28x digital zoom.

Thank you again for all your help, much appreciated!
