I suppose that all landing mats are great for grass and sand during take off/landing.

I bought one to deal with take off & landings in long grass and love it. However, I even use it on flat hard surfaces to prevent dust & sand from getting blown around by the prop wash then sucked inside by the cooling fan. I believe it even helps the VPS with precision landing.
