To be honest I too would question whether or not a Mini could fly along a ventilation duct if that duct was a metal tube.
That said they are capable of relatively precise flight in suitable conditions. There is a youtube of one being used to release a bird that was suspended/trapped in a ''string entanglement from something like a telephone wire. A knife was taped to the drone and used to cut the 'string'.

Curious to know in the UK If he needed a part 107 certificate for this job as he surely was flying for monetary compensation.
