Is there any official or unofficial way to expand the compatible list of drones with the DJI RC Controller? I'm wondering if there is a firmware update or something I can do so that the M.M. will pair with the DJI RC Controller.

Maybe they use different radio technology or something and that's a hard non-compatibility issue that just can't be solved by a software change, huh?

Background:
My father just handed me a Mavik Mini that I originally purchased for him years ago. It's what set him off on this drone journey and now he handed it to me.

However, the original controller broke and he went and purchased a DJI RC (v1) controller thinking it would work with the Mavik Mini.

Knowing even less than him about drones but excited to check it out, I fired up the controller and found that from the selected list of compatible drones on the app screen, the Mavik Mini isn't one of them.

Am I just S.O.L. with flying this Mavik Mini since the original controller doesn't work and now the only thing I have is this admittedly better, but non-compatible, DJI RC controller?

I tried to search and see if this question was posted before but I didn't see anything, don't bite!

If its the original Mini simply go to Ebay and purchase a controller. The going rate is around 50 bucks or so.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It must be this controller, right?

According to THAT ^ Ebay link, the model number is: MR1SS5

And according this this Mavik Mini link, this matches the model number of the original controller. Support for Mavic Mini - DJI

Cool man, thanks!

If I remember correctly the original Mavic Mini (maybe later versions) operated on wifi instead of ocusync. So it would be different frequencies and different language than the other Mavic series drones. It's also a lot shorter range I believe. So, I think you have to purchase a controller specifically made for the MM. I'm sure others will chime in if I have that wrong. Some of the later mini series may have operated on ocusync, but I don't think the original MM did.
