The 5d button is mission its cap and the centre pillar on the actual switch is missing , has anyone striped the controller down to access the switch ? Looks like It’s on the gps board, (pic from google attached below) main question , is it possible to
Remove the circuit boards without having to separate them and disrupting the thermal paste ? My OG 5d switch is Covered in glue , probably to prevent the switch falling off Like the early ones did , I’ll need to pick it out obviously,

Trying to remember the process.
The 500 is much easier to work on than the 510. I don’t remember any issues with thermal paste that were beyond control.

Plus now you can take the cheapy stuff off, and use corsair paste!

Anyone actually replaced the switch? Any tips or info? I can find information how to remove and replace the aerials not a single thing about going any further , I’m sure it’s only screws , and im Going to video record the process so I can reference it if I need and to post up incase anyone else ever needs something to watch,

If your soldering skills are enough to remove and replace that switch, there are several YouTube videos that will help with the teardown process. The screws are the easy part. It’s separating the plastic components that are clipped together that provides the frustration.

There are written tutorials on doing that too. I have never had the need to go thru them BUT there out there.
