Do I need a cellular tablet for Asian trip.

I am preparing to go to Asia soon ( Vietnam, Korea, Philippines ), and since I am looking for a tablet to use as a monitor, I was wondering if I needed a cellular tablet to get the maps there.
I can not preload since I am not sure where I will be.
Do most people use a cellular connection even here in the U.S.A. for flying a Mavic Pro?

Your need a data connection for maps. You could use local WIFI to cache.

If you are going to China for example the local SIM cards are blocked for a few different sites. Not sure if that effects the map service in DJI go

There is a way to get unlocked sims but you have to know this before you buy them. I had a friend order mine for me and shipped to us in Canada and we installed them when we landed. We could access google and Facebook for example but the locals could not.

If you headed to China I would give that some thought.

Why would you need cellular signal to fly a drone?

You don’t need cell service to fly. Only if you want map service so long as your signed into your DJI account before flight.
