Do you separate them?

The first time I started the Mavic the blades made a instant clack noise that I worried about. Are the blades hitting each other before they separate? Did not see any scars on any of the props, so maybe just paranoia. Do you separate them before start?

I do. What if one prop decides to unfold? Not worth the risk. I always extend them and inspect them as part of my preflight.
