Does anyone here fly their drone?

I think he’s classing using automated flight such as the use of waypoints as flying your drone. To me, that is only flying the drone once and then letting some software do the flying while you twiddle your thumbs and being bored as he’s wittering on about the same DJI software not doing what he wants it to!
I don't fly for the enjoyment although that is part of it. I fly to get the video. Sometimes waypoint missions seem to work better

In reality, even if there was a thread about this wayoint mission renaming problem, I wouldn't of seen it and still would of update fly. I thinking now if I can restore fly to the previous version. Does anyone know how to do that and can it be done?

Alot of times I fly just for the fun of flying not taking picture or video at all, just to fly. I’ve always had the flying bug. I have many drones and they all have a different feel which keeps me interested in the hobby. Flying model planes, helicopters without GPS, now that was a completely different animal from todays world of drones.

I'm taking video even before I take off. I'm always worried something will go wrong.

Yes, I fly my drone and I am a true novice. Don't use way points or half the ability of my Mini 3. My only problem is with DJI, if I don't fly regularly, I lose my connection with DJI. Don't fly during the winter. I think I have written down what I have to do to re-connect.... but I don't know where.

It will pass with practice. I had 25 yrs of flying under my belt before I purchased my first drone and was sill worried as you are about what might go wrong even though it was fun. It took time and patience to get used to this type of flying for me. Just be careful about how and where you fly and make sure you’ve covered everything that needs checking and not be in a hurry and the anxiety will pass. I’ve used waypoints a few times and I’m more comfortable flying it myself than using this method. I do think it’s amazing that there is a waypoint option, for those who want to use it.

By losing your connection with DJI do you mean you get logged out of the DJI Fly app?

I don't think DJI has waypoints for the mini 3. My mini 3 pro doesn't have DJI waypoints but you can buy a third party app to get them, like DroneLink or Litchi. The problem with those is you always have to stay corrected to the RC. The drone doesn't have the capability to store the waypoints in it's memory. Why DJI always insists on you logging in if you haven't flown for a long time is beyond me.

Not sure exactly what happens, but after not using the drone for a month or so, it will not fly. I have to go back to DJI and reconnect. And I can't find my notes that tell me how. I was hoping somebody would tell me how to make a permanent connection.

By “go back to DJI and reconnect” do you mean login to your DJI account again or pair the controller to the drone again?

@WNYBill, the manner in which you're describing this makes no sense to the rest of us – DJI drones are never completely disabled from flying due to lack of contact with DJI over the internet.

If a long enough period goes by, DJI Fly will be logged out from the user's DJI account, limiting height and distance to 30m and 50m. However, it will still fly with full control within those limits.

You must connect DJI Fly to the internet, on your phone or with an integrated RC like the DJI RC2, and log in to your account again to remove the height/distance restriction.

Absolute inability to take off sounds more like the behavior of the old geofencing system, which could still be impacting you if it's been a long time since you've updated the firmware and/or Flysafe database.
