I am trying to get LAANC set up and keep finding different, seemingly, conflicting information and webpages.

One sent me to DJI Fly Safe and started the process to unlock my area for flying.

When I got to the map, I can't draw an area. I just get the hand to move the map.

I remember something about DJI removing geofencing. Is that part of it?

All I'm trying to do is get things set up so I can fly around my neighborhood (restricted to 300' because I'm near an airport) and get set for Christmas lights this season.

DJI no longer has geofencing in the US. No unlocks to worry about with DJI.

To fly in an area covered by LAANC, I use Aloft Air Control. Either on desktop, or mobile app.
You need a free account.

Yep this is Air Control. LAANC authorization should have no impact on or tie into Fly Safe.

You have to first update the FlySafe database to remove GEO.
Have you already done that?
If not, connect the aircraft to the controller and do so.

That explains why I got to fly under the flight path at Naples Municipal FL this Summer and there was me thinking-clever old boy to get round the Geofencing hubble bubble I had to unwind the year before. Got LAANC in a second nd was off straight away. All is clear.

My controller was updated a week or so ago. I flew after that. I updated it again yesterday and will connect them again today.

Controller updates are completely independent of the FlySafe Database updates, which must be separately updated.

I downloaded and installed Aloft.
It's pretty simple to use and the results were satisfactory.
At my house I can get 200' without any trouble. I think 300' might have more scrutiny.

Thanks for the help.

Cool, I remember the day when recreational pilots were prohibited from any drone flights, day or night, in controlled airspace. No LAANC apps at the time for us. It was pretty painful always having to look for class G. We have a lot of 400 grids around here, too and I know there's a reason for that but no manned aircraft around there at all. It's all automatic authorization so if you get to the last LAANC step and it's still green, you're going to get "approved." ✅

Right. I have green at 200'
Maps show 300' ceiling.

Talking to my FAA connection, the yellow area is a buffer and can or cannot be approved depending on the traffic patterns of the day. If it's a low ceiling day then it's probably not going to be approved.

Ok sounds good. We are a small airport. So small when the tower closes at night, the controlled airspace turns into Class G so I'm free to fly without LAANC until the next morning. I'm not sure if I have to continue to respect the grids or can I go to 400 ft but at night, there's no need to go any higher than 200.

I'm in between a "small" and LARGE airport. It's kind of cool I can fly at all.
I flew into a small airport once. I had to click the mic 7 times to turn on the runway lights since the airport was "closed". That was 700 miles from here so I don't know if the ceiling changes when the airport closes.
