After reading the story of the poor guy who got electrocuted trying to retrieve a lost drone, it became crystal clear to me that a drone is not worth getting yourself hurt over. It can be replaced, but your health and life cant.

Years ago, I was riding my 4 wheeler alone in the backwoods where I had been countless times before. The only difference this time was that there had been severe rains and flash floods for days before. I came to a stream I had crossed many times before. As soon as the front wheels were all the way in, the little stream grabbed me and my 4 wheeler and took us for the ride of my life. Before I knew what was happening, we were getting swept downstream, out of control. I held on to the ATV between my knees and was able to grab an overhead branch to stop me from going further downstream. The water was rising over my shoulders, but I refused to let go of the ATV. It soon occurred to me that if I didnt let go of the ATV, I was going to drown. I let the ATV go, and it was gone in a second. I was able to hand-over-hand my way back to sure, and walk back home. That was the last time I would ever think about risking myself to retrieve something that was insured anyway.

Morale of the story, anything you bought can be bought again. Your life cant.

Wow. Between that and the head-on by the drunk driver, it's a miracle you're still alive. Every day is a gift - something most take for granted ... until it's too late.

Good advice! We see that a lot in AZ. Washes are dry and rain stopped hours ago so people take off. The after the water runs off the mountains and all the little tributaries get together.... suddenly a 3-6 foot wall of water and debris comes rushing down the “dry” wash. Be careful even in the desert!

Yep. Must have a guardian angel, or maybe have been a cat in a prior life. lol

Well, hopefully with DSAR we can help some people who would not have made it otherwise. Hats off to Charlie and his crew, and other SAR folks who are on call 24/7/365. Totally unsung heroes, as are you Bob. All the effort you are putting into DSAR at your own expense for no pay whatsoever, just to try and save some lives is commendable.
