I'm thinking about getting Mavic 2 and wanted to know the downside of registering drone as recreational pilot. So they have my name? All our names are already all over the internet already!

The downside of registering (so they have your name, info, and $5) as a pilot (a recreational use drone itself is not registered) pales in comparison to getting caught unregistered. As a rec pilot, you put the same info on each drone you have.

the government already knows everything about you ,from the moment you are born ,so registering a drone is just another piece in the puzzle ,if you do anything these days that data is being stored somewhere

Being registered might be a bit of insurance if your aircraft caused an incident and you're flying in compliance. But I've yet to have LE ask to see a registration number and I think a lot of them don't even know about having the numbers on your quad.
