Drone Hits Helicopter

There's always one

I just don't understand where people's heads are at who do this...obviously where the sun does not shine.
That's a kind understatement. I flew manned a/c for 33 years and had more than one encounter with an RC flown by the same brand of idiot. 🤬

I just posted this on another thread.

You can't legislate, teach, cajole, inform, preach to stupid people. Stupid is as stupid does. The idiots of the world are incorrigible. Catch them and make an example of them.

The idiots are going to ruin it for everyone else. Probably was for social media. Got to get those likes and views you know since people’s livelihoods are dependent upon how much online clout they have.

Saw another article that it was News company flying the drone trying to get media.
Even better, a paparazzi 107 holder. 🙄

Who ever it was made it so much worse for themselves by not immediately coming forward. Do you know if they turned themselves in or were they found by the authorities?

I have an story that kind of applies. I used to ride off road motorcycles as a younger man. Lots of fun!
I was living in NJ. Home of the bad attitude and way too much government :) But, to their credit there was a public Off Road Park that you could ride motorcycles and 4X4s. This was a big deal with not a lot of free land available.

There was literally only one rule. DO NOT RIDE IN THE CREEK. Well, you know what happened! The park closed down weeks after opening.

Stupid is as Stupid Does.

If you are in VLOS and possibly observers how could you fly into a helicopter? The five laws of stupidity, according to economist Carlo M. Cipolla, are:
1. Everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.
2. The probability that a person is stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.
3. A stupid person is someone who causes losses to another person or group, while deriving no gain and possibly incurring losses themselves.
4. Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals, particularly the cost of dealing with them.
5. A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person.

Do you have a link for that article? Every article that I have seen has referred to it as having an unknown operator.

Well, all the news said the same thing about the Canadian fire plane that was “hit by a drone” last summer. And by pure logic, had the guy’s lawyer been on top of it, he could’ve ended the case by proving in court that it was actually the fire bomber that hit the drone! 🤪

There was a collision. The manned aircraft had the right of way. The drone was obligated to give way. No logic or courtroom cleverness could prevail over those hard facts.

It's even simpler than that. There is a TFR in place; the drone shouldn't have been there at all.

Guess it was a bad lawyer joke. Sorry.

I have a question.

What was the elevation of the copter when this, alleged, collision happened?
If the drone was over 400 feet then they're doubly in the wrong.
If the copter was below 400 feet, why?

I say alleged because we have seen the "officials" (and media) make up stories to fit a narrative.
