Drone newbie

Greetings. I am absolutely brand new at this drone thing. I am very experienced in flying airplanes, approx. 12,000 hrs. I am considering getting in the drone photo and video business.

I am wondering what is the:

Best Part 107 school
Best drone, (thinking of the DJI mavic pro 3)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jerry

Welcome to the forum
There is a great group here and a wealth of information.

Welcome to the fold! As a past flight instructor and thousands of hours under my belt, you won't have any problems in learning to fly your drone (whatever it might be that you choose) and I'd suggest Pilot Institute also.

You can get free registration stickers from them, for your drone too, once you have registered it with the FAA and got your numbers. As for what drone, I suppose get what your budget allows for. As much as flying our airplanes around the sky, is, flying drones will open up a completely new area of flying, it's like discovering a portal that takes you into a new realm of aviation. Have fun.

Hi Jerry if you have that many hours you might want to take a look at the FAA DRONE ZONE do you have your private rating? Id so, I believe you will find on the drone zone some information on how you can obtain the 107 certificate without taking the test...if that is not the case, I believe that with that level of experience that you will be experienced in and have knowledge of the 107 test material.....I took the PilotInstitute course and I do recommend it if you do take a course. However, I think you might want to take a look on youtube and other sources for practice tests...you might find that you are adequately prepared. I remember that on my 107 test that there were more questions geared towards general aviation ( airport traffic signs, METARS, reading sectionals, etc.) than to drone regulations....good luck
