Here's the thing I want to know - how the heck did the Dutch get permission to acquire an American Bald Eagle for their use as a drone interceptor?

Same way we have thousands of them in Canada. Just because its named American doesnt mean it stays in America.
 
Difference being the Atlantic ocean. So I guess the Canadians could have allowed export.
 
Would those policemen stick their fingers in blades doing 10000RPM? I guess not. I don't think that those birds have legs and claws robust enough to avoid some scratches or even just little injuries. Catching small birds is different. For me it's on the edge of cruelty...

Agreed - I guess that's why they added the disclaimer. If that were a Phantom I wouldn't put anything living in the path of those blades on purpose.
