Enable USB developer option!

Can somebody explain in simple words what is this setting for?

There are many options that allow you to simulate app stresses or enable debugging options. Android Developer Options allow you to enable debugging over USB, capture bug reports on to your Android device, and show CPU usage on screen to measure the impact of your software.

From what I understand, it’s so you can side-load firmware or download apps on you Android device.

USB Developer Options on Android devices has been the subject of numerous discussions on this forum. In my particular case, I had to enable Developer Options on my Samsung S7 and then change a USB related setting. Prior to this, the phone would not connect to the Mavic Pro remote control.
