Some outstanding golden hour/blue hour shots. I actually watched the whole thing (unusual). Excellent showcase video.

I completely enjoyed your beautiful video of Ottawa and surrounding areas of rivers and fields. The views of the Parliament and downtown buildings in the first light of morning was spectacular. The views of the ice skaters on the rivers, and th pattern of cracking up ice were amazing. The tempo of the flight and the music were perfect. My only criticism, was it was somewhat repetitious and that made it way too long for casual viewing. I lasted until 6 1/2 minutes. I am happy to watch cold weather from the comfort of my Miami home.

Lovely video, with some great lighting in there. Nice smooth flying with some great angles. However, as stated, go through it again and be very critical and compare the similar shots and really be hard on yourself and ask which shots could i really live without. Then when you have that grouping done, go through it again and ask which could I NOT live without.

Use them first in a new edit, then go back through what was left over, of those similar scenes like the flowing river straight down and following it, and ask if I had to, could I delete a few of these scenes. Then you have your final selection to put to one side.

Next go back through what you have and put them in sections of bright, slightly not so bright, late in the day scenes, sun setting scenes, twilight then after sunset and then as it really begins to close on the day and finally those superb night shots, and end on one of the best scenes. That way it follows a pattern that we all know, day to night.

I am thinking that maybe some of the scenes were at sunrise, but the viewer does not know that. So I'd keep all those low sun shots to the end. no one that does not know the city, knows what was west or east facing to understand if it was a sunrise or sunset shot.

Starting off with those great evening shots of dusk and then jumping to mid afternoon sun on snow then sunset then middle of the afternoon and back to night again, does not flow well. You have a very good video here, but trimming the fat to shorten it and not make people start to think, ohhh another scene of the river, or more skating or city fly overs? That will keep their interest more and putting it all into a logical timing sequence will, I feel, make it into a great video and be more impactful.

It is always best to leave them wanting more, than to give them so much that they feel, just before the end, that they have already had enough and begin to wonder, when will it end now. Hope this helps. The music is very nice and goes well with all your scenes and luckily, is the type that can end, whenever your scenes end. It is not easy finding nice music that you can do that with.

A bit long, but very beautiful scenes. I thought it was Interesting seeing people ice-skating on the river. Probably won't be able to much longer. The lighting was excellent.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback! I’m really glad you enjoyed the views and the atmosphere we captured. Totally appreciate your note on the length—I’ll keep that in mind for future videos! And I don’t blame you for preferring to watch the cold from sunny Miami! 😄❄️

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it! Ice skating on the river is such a unique sight—definitely a fleeting moment before the thaw. Appreciate your kind words on the lighting!

Wow, thank you for such a detailed and thoughtful critique! I really appreciate your insight on pacing, shot selection, and sequencing—it makes so much sense.
You’ve given me a lot to think about, especially in terms of structure and pacing. I love the idea of organizing the shots to follow the natural progression of the day.
Really appreciate the in-depth feedback and the time you took to provide the invaluable thoughts and inputs! This is definitely going to put me in the right direction and overcome the shortcomings! Truly appreciate!
The music had to be carefully selected but again none of them would end with the scenes that is where I work very hard and trim the music as well such that it ends with the scenes and there are no abrupt jumps in the music. I am so glad it worked!

The music is great however, I think if you did a long fade to black at the end of the film and then did the same with the music fading it down but run the final end of the music, just past the end of the film, and possibly use the final part of the music to include your end titles, it might work out as you slowly fade to silence, after the video is already black.
