Yeah, I was long overdue for this one and it happened today. Fortunately, the MA shook it off and flew fine afterwards and everything including props is fine. Also lucky for me, I wasn't piloting it, it was on Active Track. So I don't have to feel stupid and all :D

Yeah, active track doesn't follow uphill ... below when I found that out, the speed was so low this time that either the VPS or front sensors had sufficient time to stop the MA before ground contact, it just stopped & hovered.

It does actually. The crash point was at the top of the hill (the hill is close to 100m climb from base to top) and the MA followed me fine until that point. I don't know why it failed at that spot though.

That's strange, did extensive tests in a ski slope to figure out how the different modes worked in regards follow uphill & down hill ... was surprised that my findings were rather the opposite the descriptions found on WWW where all were disappointed that the MA couldn't follow down hill as it could do it up hill ... mine didn't behave like that at all.

My findings back from the test ...

MA on firmware 01.00.0620
RC on firmware 01.00.0200
DJI GO 4 v4.3.25 (Android)
All Obstacle detection ON & tested with/without APAS

Active track in Trace mode:

The drone will trace downhill
(even below RTH altitude) but will NOT trace uphill ... on a distance of approx 0,3-0,5 meters from ground it will stop & the otherwise green trace square will turn red in DJI GO 4 with an additional message on screen that the drone is to low.

Active track in Profile mode:

The drone will trace downhill
(even below RTH altitude) and it WILL also trace uphill ...

As a side note I have also tested the Active track Trace mode possibility through Smart Capture started from the RC and my findings there were ...

Active track in Trace mode through Smart Capture:

The drone will trace downhill
(even below RTH altitude) and it will also trace uphill.

Ahhh! I should have mentioned this Active Track session was initiated in Smart Capture mode. I am not sure if it was set to profile or trace though, since I didn't carry the remote controller or the phone. I just used the double press the function button on the AC method to enter Smart Capture mode. Oh, and it also tracked downhill just fine, except it couldn't keep up if I let go of the breaks on the bike.
