This is what I came up with, takes up very little room in my backpack, clips to the bottom of a walking stick & works better than expected.
Total cost 50p for the clip, I already had some 4mm ply & some leather.
Managed to make it so the base doesn't touch the sensors & the leather gets a grip on the parts that touch to stop it slipping.
