Gimbal Connection

My video connection from gimbal to body (the round wire not flat one) has a strand or two of the tiny wire broken. The camera appears to be working properly. Does this sound right or does every strand serve a separate purpose?

The outer wires are a shield and an earth for the video cable inside.
A few broken strands will not make any difference unless all the wires are broken.
